It’s not worth it to explain the joke to some people. They just don’t get it.
Here’s an example: On April 1, 2009 (you know, April Fool’s Day) shortyawards.com created a wonderful twitter prank: The Twitter Pro Account. Twitter Pro Accounts offered an instant 50,000 followers (“so you no longer have to bother writing anything interesting”) and 160 character tweets (as opposed to Twitter’s normal 140 character limit). Within 24 hours, over 16,000 people signed up.

There was, and still is, no such thing as a Pro Account on twitter. Twitter Pro’s only feature is a big red “PRO” across their avatar.
This all sounds like pretty old news, so why do we bring it up now, 6 weeks later? Some people still haven’t gotten the joke. Perhaps it’s time to fill them in.
